Exactly 3 years ago today we hosted our very first “Olympic Weightlifting” class at Industrious! This was the start of what has now become a stand-alone weightlifting program and team at Industrious, and it has been incredible to see the progress our program and our athletes have made in the last 3 years!

The first class was on a Tuesday night, 2/21/12, with just a few lifters. Rachel and Tommy came in for their first visit one week later. They had only been coming to the gym for just over a month at that point, and to this day they both continue to come to WL training sessions 2-4 times a week. 

Coach Ben’s mom Gretchen soon joined the “Oly Class” after it started, and is also still one of our most consistent and dedicated weightlifters. And a couple months after that, in June Andy and Michelle started  coming to class as well. Cassie, Piper, Mark R, and Harlow were also regulars in the class when it first started up!

The gym was just 4 months old at this point – our class schedule at the time was 6am, 7am, 12noon, 4:30pm, 5:30pm, and 6:30pm Monday through Friday, and on Saturday we had just one class at 9:00am.

The weightlifting program has hands down without a doubt made ALL OF US better weightlifters, on top of building a truly exceptional weightlifting team. This program is such a cool and unique part of the Industrious community – what a great 3 years it has been!!!
